Hone those pitches!

I was going to title this, "Hone those pitches, bitches!" but thought it might be too controversial.

Anyway, since many people don't know how to make a pitch, or at least make it less general, I'm including this link, "How to Pitch a Story," from Joe Grimm's Web site. He says, "Pitch ideas, not topics," and better yet, "Prepare your pitch with a little reporting."

His advice is dead-on. (For those of you not in the know, "pitch a story" works for a query letter, too.)
