The fall of print?

j0227699I hear so much about how print journalism is dying (or committing suicide, as my old editor liked to say.) I have to say that it is true....but why is it? Is it because of the general decline in reading? Or the idea that people can get all the news they want "for free" on the Internet?

I'm pondering that myself. Is there a different model to use? Is there something different out there? Perhaps a news media organization that is a news outlet that charges for its content in a way that can be lucrative?

So far there has been little help from newspaper companies, who seem to employ corporate types who solely want to protect their golden parachutes at the expense of $40K a year reporters producing the product they sell.
